People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside I'm on the fence between a Hooker and SLP LM catback system. I'm ordering one today. Help me decide. Please post pics and comments/suggestions.

You don't need a cutout. You can take out three bolts and the whole muffler and tailpipes just drop off. Also save a little weight, but it's in the wrong place.
I not a big fan of the LM, way too loud for me.

I want something that sounds nasty at a 4,000rpm rev. At the same time though, I don't want it to be obnoxious.

Re: People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside i put mine on Friday. It took longer cutting the old exhaust off than installing the hooker. Very well set up system in my opinion. I wish the hooker was a little louder but hopefully that will change with hooker LT's & off road y-pipe
Re: People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside I have one of each, a Hooker on the T/A and a LoudMouth on the Z28. They are nothing alike. The Hooker is refined, deep and not too loud. For a daily driver it is great, though I would like it a tiny bit louder. Long tubes with cats will accomplish that in the future. The LoudMouth, is not too loud at idle, though louder than the Hooker. At WOT, the LM gets noisy, plus it has all the nice pops and cracks. Since the Z28 is the race car, it is perfect. It would be too much with headers, especially with no cats. The LM is also the lightest catback.

Re: People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside Definitely get the Hooker. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" /> It is really easy to install and even easier to remove at the track. And if you have headers and no cats you won't have the awful resonance that you would with the LM.

However, I WILL be switching to the Hooker because i'll be running LTs with no cats next month, and the Loudmouth would be too loud then, obviously. If your gonna be running cats, the hooker will be to quiet, IMO. However, a cutout would fix that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Re: People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside Just a side note, if you have an Advance Auto parts near you, they sell hooker stuff. That is where I got my hooker catback. The price was competitive with other places and it arrived the day after I ordered. No shipping charges either. Can't beat that.

Re: People withHooker Cat Backs...Inside Here is a video of my car making a 1/4 mile run. Motor is stock, stock manifolds, cats, & y pipe. Only mod is a lid. I ran hooker exhaust on my '85 t/a and loved it. The fit was awesome, and the sound was mellow. It wont have the in your face scream of WOT loudmouth, but it sounds very nice.
Sounds to me like hooker is the best choice for you. I just wished they made stainless systems.
