Default Experience with Electric Cutouts please!!

I am looking into buying an electric cutout for my exhaust system.

I have looked at the Quicktimeperformance.com and Mccord Power plate both.

My question to you all, have any of your experienced problems with leakage when closed?

I am gonna send this one over to the "External engine" side. You'll get much more responses over there...

I have a McCord MPP2 and have nothing but good things to say about it. Keith is an awesome guy to deal with also. He took some bad rap with the MPP1 and it's problems but I haven't heard about anything bad about the MPP2. It's also cheaper than the other brand too. I haven't had any problems with leakage. These things close pretty tight.

How much is the Mccord product? Did you add any sealant of any kind to make sure it didn't leak, or did you just "bolt it on"?
How long ago did he release the 2nd series of this product?
Anyone else have a non-leaking Mccord? I want to make sure before I purchase this product

Just bolted it on.. Nothing else was required. I'm not sure I'm allowed to discuss pricing since one of the brands you mentioned is a sponsor here. Just go to their websites. They both list their pricing.

Anyone using the Quicktime and have leaking problems? I just want to make sure when I choose one, I get one that does not leak when closed.

I too have heard GOOD things about the MPP2!

Yeah yeah, he got crap cause of the MPP1, but he dealt with it, revised his product and stands behind it 1000%!
Any problems and he'll galdly take care of it!
I know that when i do get one...it WILL be the MPP2!

Damn that sounded like a commercial...lol

I never got to see the final version of the Mpp2, but Keith definitly seemed to stand behind his stuff. Sounds like he got all the issues resolved now.

I've got two QTEC's I hadn't installed. They seem to be a better product and use all metal gears no plastic. I'm not bashing Keith at all because I tried to get him to make me two 3.5" and he was very helpful but in the end QTEC stepped up and made them and he didn't. Barry has been super to me and he is also a sponser. I'm not telling you McCord makes a bad product because I'm sure it is good but don't eliminate your other options until you've compared them evenly.

Keith's customer service RULES!
He managed to dig up a RED LED ver's the green he offers now.. He also put an inline connector to remove the plate for the winter..
I sent mine back because of mounting concerns..
I was concerned about leakage...
I sent em some illustrations ...pics of how I want it done with the rod on the outside...so as to elminate any possible leakage thru the rod that goes thru the plate body..

This is a pic of it on my car...(rod on the inside)
But I needed the body reversed..

He offered to reverse the body for me and refab it
He has no problem doing it for me..
I boxed it up and sent it back..
No THAT is customer service!!!
I expect to have it back this week!

The fun part comes when I go to wire it..
(What did I do with that electrical tape... )

Well, here is MY dealing with Keith.

I was on a waiting list for a GP that he did. He was really cool and emailed me to let me know that I was on the waiting list, and that if anybody dropped off, then he would put my name on the list. He asked me to shoot him an email in a couple of weeks to remind him. Well, this went on for about a month. Everytime I email him, he tells me to email him in a couple of weeks because he is nearly finished. Finally, he emails me and says that my name is now on the list. Of course I am overjoyed. I email him back and ask him how he wants me to pay him. No response. I email him every Friday for a month and never recieve a reply after he told me I was on the list. Finally I just gave up on him. That was about 6 weeks ago. I guess he didn't want my money. I hear everyone talk about how cool he is on customer service, but if he didn't want to include me on the GP, he shouldn't have kept telling me to email him and remind him. I know that Quick Time will probably be making a GP on these soon, and they are now a sponsor on this site. I will be waiting to give them my business when they decide to have a GP. On a side note, this is not a thread to bash anyone. It is just what happened to me. I know that there are lots of people who have had great dealings with him. Good luck on your choice.

MadScientist I keep seeing you post this story and I was concerned about you so I contacted Keith who hasn't the foggiest idea who you are. What's up with that? Provide a real name and your emails from attempted contacts to keith (which you still have I'm sure). Keith takes about 2 seconds to respond to email. Somethin strange goin on with you....

Dood:

If you study the thing carefully(especially the contact patch between body and butterfly) you'll see it makes no difference whatsoever which side the rod is mounted on, which speaks doubly good for Keith who did it for you anyway. Keith will absolutely go out of his way for a customer.

Update. The only thing separating Mad Scientist from his MPPII was his payment! Which, I understand was requested of him more than once. Not paying will certainly stop shipment of just about everything in this world. No $, no product.

Hell, he went out of his way to get me a unit on very short notice when he was pretty backed up.

I bought a MC2 and it leaks a bit. I think they all do. If you can't deal with a little leak, don't get an electric cutout.
