Default Which LTs have the LEAST amount of problems...

ie. Fitament, coatings, banging, overall quality and performance.
I am leaning towards Grotts - other than the guy that makes them, I've heard nothing else bad.
Input please!
Nick

Grotts y-pipe is bad, don't know anything else. Not sure if they hang low or not because I've never seen installed pictures of them.

I like the FLP's I had & was dissapointed in the SLP's I had. At least to me I'm not impressed by Hooker. I'd like to know more about TTS though. I don't hear much if anything about them.

The Y pipe for me is irrelevant. I will be doing true duals, so I would just do the headers alone. I don't care about clamps, and low y pipes or any of that. (lucky for me!) I am just concerned about header quality and performance.

Contact Bluestreak or 99ragtopSS on this forum, both guys have the 1 7/8" Grotts and both of them have had problems with them rubbing a portion of the front cross member.

I have TTS and I love them. Install was easy and they don't hit anywhere. The coating still looks great as it does on friends cars who have had them longer. I have not been on a dyno yet, but the throttle response/torque at crazy low rpm is really there, and it just keeps pulling until the next shift.

Hookers are great. The FLP cats sucked *** and so did the fitment of them. Hookers slid right into place no problems. Hooker has been around for along time. You make your choice based on that.

ive come to the conclusion that if you want a perfect fitting part that works flawlessly and installs easy- that you will need to make it yourself. every company has their header flaws

I had ZERO problems with my SLP's. No banging, perfect fit, and absolutely no rust, even after a year as my daily driver in all kinds of weather.

Now I moved to the Grott 1 7/8, and they are beautiful headers. Also no problems, and if you're not getting their y-pipe, I'd say they're a good choice as well.

if you dont care about a y-pipe, then definitely dont pay for one like if you got a flp or slp kit, and depending on how much power you will make decides if you want 1-3/4 or 1-7/8 primaries, if i were you i would look at dynatech, hooker, and g-hahn.

From the numbers I heard in 2001 7% of total production was SOM & this year around 15%. Not sure if they got there though. I know right after I bought my car only 193 SOM WS6's had been produced so far. I definitely love the color though.

You'll be happy with the Grots!! I've got the 1-3/4" ones, and love em. Install was a PITA for the driver's side, we had to get the car *way up* in the air before it would slide in, but other than that, I'm extremely pleased with them.

Here are some pics of the ground clearance (plenty) on my stock ride height car:

And the headers (ain't they purty ):

Hope that helps!

I have never seen anyone who sells Grots or those TTS (BETH talked about).......where would I go online to look at them and check the price. So far the Hookers seem to be the best for a true duel set up that I have seen.

I've had FLP's, on my 2000, and on my 01 I have Grotts. I like the Grotts better, they are more equal in length. But either are a nice choice. The FLP's do tuck up in a little better.

The problem seems to be in the Y-pipe. I would never buy a header that requires you to spend more because you have to get the Y pipe & crap with it. Custom Y, or true duals, are the way to go, IMO.

Based on that, I would suggest the Grotts, or the Hookers. Hookers are way cheaper. If you have eliminated the AIR, then get the uncoated & have the tubes cut off. Check with Thunder Racing, 1-877-516-RACE. They always seems to have in stock what others dont.

Nice pix!
Thanks for the replies. From what I am told, I may be able to get FLPs with just the headers directly from FLP. From what was posted and from prior knowledge, I may go with the Grott 1 3/4.

Dynatechs are out - I need emissions equip.

Anyone have track gains and/or dyno #s with TTS?
Nick

I had no problem getting TTS. Here is their phone number... 310-669-8101. I have never had any problem getting in touch with Steve.

My Hookers and Y are a work of art. $800 jet Hot coated ain't bad. And, uncoated is a couple hundred cheaper. I have heard of zero problems with them. I really don't know why people still buy the others. Guys who say they don't like the Hookers are the ones who don't have them, and never give a valid reason of why they don't like them. Dyno #'s of all LT's seem to be about the same. I believe if you buy another brand of LT's you are blowing money.

Lol, whoever is comparing Hooker LT's to macs has no clue what they are talking about. I had Macs, they were so cheap looking they didn't go on my car. On another forum, a guy with a lid and catback gained 17hp and he ran RT cats. Another with boltons and a cam gained close to 30hp. I don't remember what the tq #'s were. About average with all LT's I've read about *shrug*

Yeah, I read another guy with Hookers that had awesome #s with boltons and cam. I am just trying to MAXIMIZE my setup. I guess I want to see more numbers across the board for hookers first.
