Idle Relearn Procedure

Idle Relearn Procedure
This is the only thing that I could find. Is this the way to do it, because my a/c is doesn't have any freon in it and I don't want to burn the compressor up. I guess I'd just skip that step if this is the right way to do it.
AUTOMATIC TRANS:
ign. off
remove pcm batt fuse
wait 5 min
replace pcm batt fuse
a/c off
park brake and block drive wheels(do not use brake)
start vehicle
allow coolant to reach over 176F
shift into drive
wait 5 mins
turn on a/c
wait 5 mins
shift to park
wait 5 mins
turn off a/c
wait 5 mins
turn off engine. off
MANUAL TRANS :
ign. off
remove pcm batt fuse
wait 5 min
replace pcm batt fuse
a/c off
park brake and block drive wheels(do not use brake) PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL
start vehicle
allow coolant to reach over 176F
turn on a/c
wait 5 mins
turn off a/c
wait 5 mins
turn off engine for 30 secs

I've seen that relearn procedure before, never bothered trying it though. Doesn't take the PCM long to relearn by itself after resetting it in my experience. If you don't have any referigerant in the system the AC won't come on - there's a pressure switch/sensor?

Looks right to me. The idea is to, after a soft reset to the PCM, get the engine to idle at operating temps for all 4 scenarios in an auto (2 in an M6) so that the PCM can re-learn the desired idle airflow and store the adjustments in its RAM. If the A/C isn't set to run, then just the steps with the A/C off.
If I were you, I'd do this...
1-Reset the PCM by pulling the fuse over night. That way you're good and sure it's been long enough.
2-Reinstall the fuse the next morning and fire her up in an open space (driveway, parking lot, whatever). You don't wan to do this in the garage...just in case.
3-Pop the hood so it can have some fresh air while it warms up instead of trapping most of the engine heat in there. Also, leave it in Park while it warms up.
4-After about 20 minutes, you should be done with Park and good to go into drive. E-brake and wooden blocks are a good idea. Sitting in the car with your foot on the brake (and listening to a song or two to pass the time) is even a better idea.
5-After about 5 minutes, you're good to go.
If you still have idle troubles after that, it's probably something mechanical (or something in the tune if you have heads/cam/etc.).
