Default Which dipstick when putting in new LS6?

I have a LS6 crate motor. Everything on the motor appears to be Cadillac CTS-V oriented. I swapped out the Cadillac pan for the C5 batwing pan.

I have to change out the dipstick assembly right? The part # on the dipstick from the crate motor is 12584737 and the stick measures 25.5" not including the grabber (metal only).

I understand the C5 dipstick changed between 1999-2000. Did they just lengthen the holder, and then the arm accordingly? Can I use any dipstick assembly from a C5?

Don't know if this helps, but, the dipstick from my 98 LS1 fit, without issue, in the 2006 LS6 block that replaced it last year. Have no idea if there's something different about a C5 dipstick arrangement. If you're replacing the motor in a C5, then it seems as though the existing C5 dipstick would work. Only issue I had with the change was the need to shim the power steering pump out a bit for alignment.

Actually the motor is going into a kit car. I would think the dipstick would have to be changed because the pan changed. But then maybe not, because the level of the oil over-all inside the pan might not have changed?

I don't know how the oil pick up point would change. A different oil pan may mean a different oil capacity, but, the oil pump pick up tube location hasn't changed. So, why would the oil fill level change? If you look @ the opening in the block where the dipstick column is inserted, the distance from that point to the bottom of the block hasn't changed. Therefore, the oil is filled to the same level in relation to that point. Look @ my signature, mine's not in a stock vehicle either.

Yeah, I agree with you, totally. The thing that is throwing me is that every oil pan swap thread I have seen says you need a different dipstick. Hmm.
