Default 2002 SS centered exhaust

Just got a '02 centered exhaust for my car. What are the benefits? Would an after market y-pipe help?

The muffler on the stock Center Mount Exhaust is one of the quietest and highest flowing out there. Not sure what muffler you had on there, but it should be an improvement. I have headers and no cats, and the car sounds great with no rasp.

A aftermarket y-pipe is a good mod. Just remember if you plan on adding headers later on, the aftermarket y-pipe for stock exhaust won't fit. So you may be out $200 or so if you change.

had the stock (standard) SS exhaust setup. Not to worry, won't be doing the header thing anytime soon. As for the y-pipe, $200 bucks might a little to much of an expense for minimal HP gains.

From the standard SS exhaust to the CME is a 10HP increase according to SLP. And that's probably a good number as the standard SS exhuast is a little on the restrictive side.

I agree $200 or so is a little expensive. You can always look in the For Sale section and maybe get one used.
