cats/y-pipe much gain I have SLP LM on a stock car.How much would i gain by getting the y-pipe and high flow cats.Is it really worth the effort.Sounds like a five HP gain,if that.
Help me decide if i should do it or not.

Re: cats/y-pipe much gain If you plan on keeping the stock manifolds for a while I'd get the LG Motorsports 2 3/4 y-pipe and just gut the cats. That way you're upping the diameter of the pipe and getting rid of the restriction in the cats and doing realtively cheap ($230 y-pipe & $80 02 sims.) I know there are several other companies that make ORYP's that bolt up to the stock manifolds but I'm not sure what diameter pipe they use. Going with a larger diameter y-pipe and either gutting or completely getting rid of your cats should net you about 10 hp depending on your other mods.
Re: cats/y-pipe much gain thunder racing told me they dynoed no noticible gain in power by gutting the cats and that was the consuenus i got from slp too. they both said it would just be more noisy.beacouse of this i decided to keep cats and just get a y-pipe espacially since im an 02 and have a good chunk of warrenty left not worth loosing for minimal to no gain (IMO)
