Question Inside the LS6 Intake

If anyone has taken off their TB, is there supposed to be oil/gas inside the intake, not a lot at all just if you rub your finger along the inside there is like a film of it....is this normal?

Mine had a little bit, guys are running catch cans to catch it, so it is pretty common. No need to worry about a little bit that I know of.

I would look into putting a catch can setup on your car.

It is normal, it is part of the PCV system that basically discharges oil into your throttle body. It's the two lines on the passenger side of the TB. One is supply and one is return. It's worse if you overfill your oil apparently. I just swapped heads and intake and after seeing that crap, I'll be getting a catch can as well.

why the catch cans? does this stuff hurt in any way? I figure oil/fuel goes pretty much throughout the engine... what's that little bit in the intake gonna hurt?

Just sent my throttle body to get ported/polished the other day and noticed the same thing. I didn't think nothing too serious was going on but i definitely noticed it.

It hurts because your engine was designed to burn gasoline, not designed to burn oil. I know they are both petro-chemicals so it would seem like no harm, but reverse the roles...you wouldn't fill your pan up with 93 octane would ya?

It's not excessive and I'm sure if anyone would look in their intake you wouldnt see or feel just plain clean plastic, rub your finger on the lip of it and I'm sure you will see a yellowish oil on your hand.

Mine has nothing in it because I've deleted my pcv system and put a breather on it.
