Question

why did you not just remove the cats..keep them, and if u want to put them on again, you could...LOUISIANA does not have CAT-COPS. As a matter of fact, most of the states allow pos on the road that would get towed the first second a Canadian Cop set eyes on them... Which reminds me of the fight to allow MEXICAN TRUCKS on U.S. HWY's .......

does even gutted cats help with the raspy sound of exhaust? how about high flow cats. that is my only concern about the cats. i dont have to worry about emissions, i am just worried it is going to be all raspy and sound like crap.

Ive done it to several of the ls1's, it always seems to make them louder, but they sound a lot more like a farm truck through a open cutout. On the 98-99 cars, you have to cut the ypipe after the cat and gut it then just weld it back up. Most muffler shops will not weld the pipe back tho.

its not ghetto they look real so no one will notice that you picked up a few ponies there. And you never have to replace them, high flow cats you occasionally have to take out and clean or possible replace, at least thats what I've heard....

I didnt remove mine myself.. took it to the shop i always go to, and they guy only charged me 40 bucks.. it sounds much deeper w/ them gutted, along w/ my electric cut out dumping before my flowmaster exhaust system. If you already have a cut out, its not sig. louder... just a much deeper tone IMO.. but better gas mileage and a few hp.. worth 40 bucks

Would it be crazy loud with the loud mouth ? I know people say its loud with long tubes, but would it shut it up a little with stock manifolds, I have a pair gutted on the side and i'm debated wether to put them on or not.

why? running catless is a federal crime. if you're forced to pop your hood, at least people would SEE cats. it makes no sense to remove cats when you can just gut them.

it doesn't matter if there is emissions testing. removing/gutting/moving your cats is illegal in ANY state and can carry thousands of dollars in fines.

funny, i can see both my cats fine with the hood open. it's from underneath the car that's hard to find them. cats are in the engine bay in 01-02 f-bodies.

Almost every F-Body around here doesn't have them. Never heard anyone that got fined for it. To each his own. Why not just sell them for over $100 instead of gutting them? Only OBD-II testing here anyways. Just don't throw any codes and you're good to go (at the right shop ).
