Do you have a powerpack or powerstick? A powerstick is chambered and the powerpack is not. However both have louvers inside that control flow and sound. If he were to look inside it he would notice the lack of any "packing" material. Might want to find a new shop!

So the Powerpacks aren't crimped? Just one big chamber the full length of the body?

The other thing which is very important, is the diameter of the flowpath - VERY important! Most if not all glasspacks, can have the bushings (necks) at say 2.5", but if you look inside, the flowpath reduces in diameter from 1/4" to 1/2". This is where you lose flow rate. Putting a muffler in the 3" intermediate pipe? Make sure the muffler has a 3" flowpath, or you are defeating the whole purpose of a 3" mid-pipe. Most muffler shop guys won't know what "chambered exhaust" really is, unless they are old school & paid attention back in the glorious musclecar days of the 60's & early 70's. Chambered exhaust was offered from the FACTORY on both Ford & GM cars of the mid to late 60's as a hardcore performance option.
