Question Wideband O2 Sensor...

K guys... I think I've decided what I wanna do... I'm getting LT's and ORY installed next week... So i'm gonna go with the Bosch 13111 O2 Sensor on one side... and for the other I'm hoping to get a wideband O2 sensor seeing as I have an Autometer Cobalt Air/Fuel guage... I might as well make good use of it and hook up a wideband O2 sensor to it...

i've tried searching on the web but can't find just the sensor... they all come in kits and stuff..

well you can search on ebay for just sensor i have seen them there for 50 bux or you can go to the vw dealership they sell them too i think form the turbo jettas or beatles. i think you still have to have the controller to unscramble the signal and make it in a 1v-5v signal. there is quite a bit of info on the Tuning Docs,VE/MAF, SES Lights, FAQS stickey

AFAIK, you still need the factory sensor on the other side for the car to run right. You'd have to have 3 sensors total to have the wideband. At least, I think that's the way it works. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I was just gonna buy the LM-1 kit early next year for my car, so I could tune it out for NO2.

So your saying I can't put it in place of one of the front two O2's sensors? I have to weld in a 3rd bung for it...

ok... I can live with that...

But, I guess i'm a little confused on my A/F guage then... I mean, what do I hook it up to? Apparentley the wideband kits come complete with a guage and all.. and if I just buy a wideband O2, what do I do with the plug end of it? just let it hang? and splice my guage wire into it?

Yep, that's what I'm sayin'.

I'd call the company that makes your AF/Ratio gauge, and see if it's compatible with a WB 02, then see if they offer one separate.

As stated above, I'm just gonna get the whole kit, so I can plug it into the laptop with HP Tuners, I'll probably get the gauge too, but I'll have it on a switch, so I don't have to see the damn thing oscillating all the time.

Why don't you check with Dynotune Nitrous? They're one of our sponsors, and that's who I was looking at getting my stuff through.

My ORY still had bungs for the rear 02's so I just plugged one and used the other for my WB.

I got the NGK and it works great and the display fits perfect in the pocket in front of the shifter.

actually you do need both front sensors unless you are going to be running open loop all the time. the sensor by its self can not be connected to the guage directly i have already tried . the controller on the left side of the picture has 2 outputs for the guage which you can program to work with it. but unless you guage already came with a controller you will need to buy the whole kit.
