TB Removal
TB Removal Anything I should be concerned about in doing this? I am going to remove and send off to get ported and polished. I have the lid off and disconnected the throttle cable, electrical connections along with what looks like a vacuum hose connection. It looks like coolant is run through the bottom of it. I guess there will be a little fluid loss when disconnecting these connections? Do you plug these lines to prevent any further fluid from draining? Also I only see three bolts holding it on to the intake?
yup yup. a little coolant will run out, but thats fine. jsut top it off when you put it back on. you can actually bypass it gonig through the TB by connecting those 2 hoses. thats the TB bypass mod. the coolant runs through it in cold starts to keep the blade from freezing shut in very cold climate areas.

Well it is off. I actually took everything off the TB except the coolant lines and then removed the TB. Once it was free I took the left coolant (as in facing the front of the car) line off first and then angled the free end of the line and TB skyward. I doubt if I loss much fluid at all. It took forever to get the right line off but then pointed it skyward. I guess I loss the coolant that was in the TB and that was it. Okay I guess it was not that big of a deal but didn't want to get coolant everywhere. I stuffed a rag in to the front of the intake manifold and called it a night.

the little bit of coolant you would lose isnt going to hurt, I just replaced new valley cover and intake and lost quite a bit from killing my vaccum seals and from all the hoses and after I started it and checked the levels, it still wasnt low at all. I do need to add a bit more for mental insurance tho.

your not going to loose a vast amount,,,you can plug off the opening with a cap,,,,just do a quick TB coolant bypass,,leave the caps on there and you wont have to worry about it at all
