How Hot do headers get?
Last Wed I had to test that theory.
I ran on the highway, got to the track, teched in, talked to a local f-body enthusiast for a good 20 mins, got a 1/4 mile run in, broke the torque arm mount, jacked up car and got under.
The stainless steel pipes AFTER the cat was cool to the touch, the collectors were ok too, used them as a grip to pull myself under... the cat... well I touched the heatshield and well... fak... lost a good chunk of skin on my right thumb... I can only imagine if I had touched the cat itself. rather than the heatshield. The cats are a crazy brown stainless steel color now while the whole exhaust looks great, definitely a lot of heat there.
someone needs to perform a test
have 8 pipes
1st is 100Degrees
2nd is 200
3rd is 300
4th is 400
and so on....
then someone has to hold their hand on each one for 10 seconds and take pictures after.
Thanks in advance
