Default Thinking of True Duals

Okay, I want to run a true dual setup on my Z28. I still have work to do on the car, but I have a Comp XER 228/230 cam, and I'd like to run a true dual setup. I know it'll be loud as hell but that's kinda what I want. Anyone have some advice? Thanks.

I advise against the TSP true duals kit.

Yes it's an easy install, a very easy install, that you can do yourself. But ....the fit isn't very consistant.

I've heard stories where the fit is excellent and the ground clearance is great...

But in my case it isn't that great. Check my Fquick page for pictures of my ground clearance. My driver's side is constantly dragging the ground leaving me with a leaking exhaust and terrible fuel trim.

Just my oppinion.

Get you some headers and go to an exhaust shop and have them fab you a system. Mine was $475 last week with 2 dynomax bullets. Sounds beautiful. Pay cash, its cheaper.

Under the axle does not decrease ground clearance. The worst part of my setup is right at the collector, because I have subframes and they'[re hard to work around. It put me down to about 3" clearance.

That was my plan, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for me.
I'm probably going to get some painted Pacesetter LTs and go 8 minutes down the road on open headers with mufflers in my trunk to the muffler shop there and have them fab me a system. Thanks.

Read through the true dual sticky at the top of the external engine section. It has some good info in there.

Get them and don't look back. Ground clearance won't be bad if you get them tucked up nicely. I'm lowered on a Pro-kit and have 3" duals dumped with Magnaflow 4x9s, rarely scrape.

I put TSP duals on last weekend and just the tips of my mufflers are about 3-4 inches from the ground but I am on stock suspension. Off the headers isn't no lower than my ORY that was on there. I got bullets and I love it. It's loud and a real deep sound. Couldn't be happier.

go with the TSP setup. i just installed mine with the Bullets and i love the hell out of these things. i took the car up to an exhaust shop and had them run under axle pipes to kick the exhaust out back. the dumps are too damn loud inside.

For those that ran the exhaust all the way out the back, how do you plan on jacking up the car? When you raise the body, the rear axle will drop as the weight is being taken off the suspension; it seems that this would want to pull your exhaust setup down.

Three bolt flange right before the 3" exhaust pipe goes under the axle. Jack the rear up from the pumpkin, set jack stands under the axle tubes or use rhino ramps, unbolt your pipes from the flages (10 minutes later) and you are done. Now you can run the track with dumps and no mufflers if you have the TSP X set up to be converted that way (which I do). That is another reason I like the TSP setup. Completly modular.

I think all it takes to get the TSP setup tucked up nice is adjusting it on a lift or in a mechanic's pit (like I did).

You really can't adjust it quite right on your back.

I agree, looks best with tips back there. best to do is run it all the way back and out bullet mufflers right before the tips. sounds great and clearance is good!
