5.3 bored to LS1 specs??
I have an LS1 and the blocked cracked and this guy is selling a 5.3 block for $400. I can bore it out to the same specs as the LS1 block and it would be the same just a little heavier right?? Any information on this job would be appreciated.

Yes, you can.... have it punched out to accept stock size LS1 pistons and have fun.... iron LS1 LOL... a little heavier, yes, but stronger as well.... put a little 150 shot on it even....

and just FYI, if you feel froggy, a stroked crank can take that block out to about 380ci with the right internals... do a search over on performancetrucks.net to find out all the little details. I think the 4.8/5.3 blocks are very overlooked in the world of the LQ4/9's but can be built into powerhouses with the right components.
