the y pipe has plenty to be desired. if its a simple bolt on car id say dont worry too much about it but if u plan on making some power down the road do urself a favor and look elsewhere. unfortunately the aftermarket leaves a lot to be desired in a stainless merge unless forking out biiiig dough. i nice stainless merge that is worth having will run u $400 easy. a good y will help scavenge exhaust and not just slam it into one another. a merge like this one can easily add 7-10 hp. but like i said its not worth the effort for most.

+2 a better looking peice will really add to the appeal of these headers.

the way i see it is why NOT try your best to get the most outta what you have? why do hundreds of people "waste" their time with the tb bypass mod to get MAYBE 1 extra hp? since i paid almost $500 for these headers and y pipe and i'm gonna spend an entire day installing them, why should i not spend 15 minutes trying to grind down a very prominate obstruction if i have the ability to do so. the worse that can happen is it does nothing, in which case i'm out a few minutes of my time but have the peace of mind for the rest of the life of my car that i tried my best when working on it.

A very prominent obstruction?!? Are you serious?!? Jesus a super tiny lip is a prominent obstruction???? Damn dude, wake up and research exhaust flow and what kind of factors hurt and help. Its all ready been said but I will state it again... 3 inches is huge and for a bolt on car is overkill. So waste your time that is fine, but I promise you, there will be no noticeable difference.
