Default KOOKS headers

I was looking at either SLP or KOOKS LTs, both with the Ypipe and cats.
The SLP comes with install kit & gaskets, what about installation of KOOKS?
Honestly, I dont know anything about the KOOKS at all so any info would be helpful!

I was all set on getting the Kooks until I found out that stainless steel is an option to the tune of $245. That puts them right up there with the QTPs. The total in price with the Y-pipe is a difference of about $70 and you land up with double cutouts on the QTP Y pipe.

StevieZ, how do you come up with a $70 difference between the two when you get a QTP Y with 2 cut outs? The QTP OR Y is $600 where the Kooks is $245. In addition, the Kooks come with the headers gaskets where the QTPs don't which amounts to $40.

The Kooks come with everything you need. You get the header gaskets and very nice 3" stainless stepped clamps.

OK I didn't factor in the gaskets but I'm talking about the ORP without the ELECTRIC cutouts.(3 wingnuts) It's $310.
Not including the gaskets or clamps it's $1079. for the Kooks 1 7/8 with the Y pipe versus $1139 for the QTPs with the Y pipe with cutouts. Add another $40 for gaskets and clamps (which I already have) and you have a difference of $100 to have 2 cutouts already installed on the Y pipe.

I finally get what you are saying. I kept thinking you were talking about electric cut outs. Of course you could always take the Kooks Y pipe to a muffler shop and get a pair of cutouts welded in for about a $100. Obviously that is less convenient though. Another question to ask is if this convince is worth two or more extra months of waiting. I have read that some people who ordered QTP headers in Jan and Feb are still waiting to get them. My Kooks took two weeks. In all fairness, I have read some posts that say QTP is catching up so maybe the wait isn't as long as before.

I also read about the wait for QTPs and that may be the deciding factor whether I buy the QTPs or the Kooks.

Personally, I don't see much difference between the two. I compaired a picture of the Kooks and QTP and they look virtually identical. The primaries have exactly the same bends.

PS. Looking at your set up, you may also want 3.5" collectors which Kooks offers. I am not sure how much power you need to make for 3.5's to be beneficial.

The QTP Y with the cutouts are electric.

Actually, the QTP Y pipe comes with manual cutouts welded in and if you pay more they give you the electric cut outs.

SLP LT's shouldn't even be in thread but I think that you can't go wrong either way with Kooks or QTP. It really depends on how much you want to pay and what options you want. Another thing to consider is quality, I'm not sure which header will outlast the other with the welds and quality of material but that's something we'll most likely see in time.

I went with QTP longtubes with the QTEC Y-Pipe. Barry at QTP took the time to answer all the questions I had.
