Has anyones CAT ever broke off?

Has anyones CAT ever broke off? well mine did on friday..................
when driving back home it threw the SES light on.
i fixed it saturday, just welded the flange back on.
will the SES light eventually go off, or will i have to have it cleared? will it be fine to drive it like that for say another week or so?
