Default What all is needed for a header installation?

I'm about to install set of Hookers and a Hooker ORY, and I just want to make sure I get everything I need.

What's the best exhaust gaskets to get? Will stock work just fine, or should I look to the aftermarket for some? I'm also going to replace the O2 sensors while I'm in there. The car has 81K miles on it, so I figure it would be a good time for a fresh set. Or, should I just leave the ones that are in there, there? I've always heard that an O2 sensor is either bad or good, and no in between. I know I'm gonna need a pair of O2 simms, which is no big deal.

What else am I gonna need? I'm gonna be doing this install here in thenext few weeks, and I wanted to have everything I need before I start.

Thanks!

A lot of people re-use their stock gaskets or just get new OEM ones. Here is what I found I need for my Kooks install. Anti seize, lots of 3/8 extensions, 3/8" stubby swivel ratchet, regular 3/8" ratchet, ratcheting 10mm box end wrench (makes things way easier), 1" swivel extension, and swiveling spark plug wrench. A lot of that stuff isn't required but it sure makes the job much easier.

Stage 8 locking studs also won't hurt.

Well when I was helping my buddy in Florida not to long ago, and he tried using the copper Mr. Gaskets which ended up with the tell tale ticking of a leaking header. He went back to Autozone and picked up the paper looking kind (Mr. Gasket) and has not had a problem since. Alot of people I know swear by the paper kind..

You will probably need O2 extension cables, and some 3 inch band clamps. The clamps that come with the LT's are junk. I also had to go back and put some RTV sealant under the band clamps to get rid of the SES light caused by a leak that I just couldn't get rid of...
You might want to go ahead and replace the driver side motor mount to keep the banging down. I put in a poly LT1 mount after the fact because my driver side pipes were beating the crap out of the floor board. It would have been a lot easier to put this in with the header laying on the floor...
Better yet, find a couple of friends that have done this before and buy them some beer and just watch... Have fun and enjoy the new headers!

Well, it looks like I'm not going to use the ORY afterall, I'm gonna do true duals with an x-pipe. But you bring up an interesting point about the motor mounts. With the car having 81K miles on it, it might not be that bad of an idea.

Oh, and don't worry, there will be quite a few friends there!!!
