Let me help you better understand why the cams that have a shot at passing emissions don't lope as much as others.....
What gives you lope is overlap. Overlap is when the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time during the given valve event. The more overlap you have, the more exhaust smell you get, which is of course going against the odds of passing SMOG.
Here is the formula to calculate overlap. Intake duration @.050 + exhaust duration @.050, / by 4, -LSA, X 2. The 224 on 114 would have -4 degrees of overlap.
