Default Ebay cats??????

Are ebay cats ok? I really dont require "high-flow", thats what I will have dual cutouts for. I just need them to pass inspection and to get rid of rasp also I'm tired of looking for some one that will pass me w/o cats. I found these on ebay. I suppose the main question is that isnt there supposed to be a shield of some sort? IMO these just look like expanded pipe, Will they even pass inspection in Texas?

Thanks in advance

I purchased those same cats (although I got the ones with the metal core) from the same seller. The seller was good and got them to me pretty quick.

I had them welded onto my XS y-pipe and haven't had a problem. They've been on the car for about 1,500 miles so time will still have to tell, but so far... so good. I also had my rear O2 codes deleted when I had my PCM reprogrammed (just in case). I really only got the cats to pass the visual inspection. I'm not really all that concerned that they're working. If they ever go bad, I'm just gonna gut 'em and keep the O2 sensors hooked up to make it look like they're actually doing something.

Yeah... they should work fine. These cats (Thunderbolts) come with either a ceramic or metal core (the honeycomb looking filter on the inside). The ones you're looking at for $38 are the ceramic. Check his eBay store out and you'll also find some for $60 a piece (these are the metal core). The metal core cats are supposed to last longer and perform a little better as they age. When I was looking to get cats, I gave the seller a call and asked what the difference was since they looked the same but had different prices. He explained (seemed pretty cool too) and I checked with my exhaust guy. My exhaust guy's been in the business for over 20 years and confirmed that the metal core Thunderbolts are better than the ceramic. And... he was pissed that I was getting them at $60 a piece since his rock-bottom price was $134 a piece for the exact same cat. He says he can't figure out how they can sell them for more than 50% less than he can.
