Default Custom Y pipe

How many of you guys are running custom Y-Pipes?? I will be putting pacesetter LT's on soon and when I bought the car it already had a flowmaster catback on it (2 1/2inch). I dont want to buy a y pipe, high flow cats, and headers and have none of them want to bolt up together and then try and get my O2's to work with it as well... I was thinking I could just install the headers myself and then bring my Z28 to a shop and have them custom fab a y pipe with high flow cats for me. Does this sound like a good idea?

I had a custom Y made. I've had it for a few months and I like it a lot. I had a Mufflex before and while it was fine it hung a little too low for my liking. Never really scraped it on anything but the custom Y is a lot nicer.

How much did it cost you to get that done?

After fooling around with fitment of the XS ORY, I decided to have a 2.5" catted Y fabbed up with Carsound cats and a Flowmaster merge. It hangs a little low and isn't the prettiest thing in the world, but it doesn't bang or buzz and it sounds great with my GMMG. Can't quote a price because it was a friend's shop and I don't pay retail.

That sounds like a good deal getting your headers installed as well

Got a ORY built by the local exhaust guy with a one chamber flowmaster dumped before the axle and welded to the Pacesetters. Only cost me $95

I know I have to get my AIR and EGR tuned out cuz those are coming off w/ me exhaust manifolds but is it necessary to tune out my o2s and are you talking about the ones before or after the cats.. Would it better to just buy the o2 extensions or o2 sims?

You will need to tune out the ones after the cats. You will still need the 02 extentions run the front 02s to the bungs on the headers. You don't need the 02 sims if you get the rears turned off when you get the AIR and EGR turned off by the tuner

BTW I'm not sure how much my custom Y ran. I had other things done and installed but if I were to divide it up it ran me about the same if not less than the Mufflex Y I had. Its all stainless and mandrel bends

Why are you able to just run the Y with no cats?? Does your state not do a sniffer or visual inspection? I am in AZ so if anyone knows what the rules are here I would appreciate it, I might not run cats if I dont have too and why choose the 2.5" over the 3"??

well, I still dont know if I should go with cats or without on the custom y.. Most of the estimates I have been getting for a custom Y with cats is around 600 bucks . Does the DMV do a visual inspection in Arizona? And how will be torque be affected if I decide one or the other?
