Not quite. I'm sure it helps a bit but the SLP lid is taller than the stock lid and doesn't have the baffles either. No baffles and more space = more air.

Well, it's creative, but as mentioned before it still has the baffles on the inside of the lid which creates turbulant flow. The aftermarket lids have a smooth inside, plus no air silencers so it makes a nice transition from the neck of the lid to the MAF. In short, save up some cash and get a lid. They go relatively cheap in the classifieds section(used).

+1 . you could go in and cut out the baffles on the inside of the lid, but hell i bought a brand new slp lid from a sponsor for just over 60 bucks i think a bit back on sale.

then you won't have to be embarassed to pop your hood.

one more thing that the stock lid screws up on is the oval on the back flows into the circular MAF, so you lose some power. plus all the stuff already mentioned.

Great try man, this was the entrance of hot rodding, making something out of nothing, but on that note, one HUGE advantage of a lid is not just increased power, but a much better appearance, this one does not fall into the category. Look at the SLP lid or the MTI clear is pretty cool, but PLEASE DONT SPRAY PAINT THIS ONE

Give you an A for ingenuity, but the stock lid will never flow as well as an aftermarket lid. The oval shape kills the flow.

the oval shape doesnt kill the flow, it may hinder it a little bit, but not enough to notice. very negligable difference, i think the changing weather conditions will have more effect on power than the oval shape.

I didnt notice any difference with my lid, but its kind of a piece of mind thing, especially when you get up in the mods like heads/cam etc. And like posted above, it helps on the appearance of the engine bay. I bought mine off of a user here for 50$.
