Default Is it worth it?

I have a regular trans am and my buddy has a ws6 well he is selling his car, and he wants me to buy his lower airbox. I have anftermarket hood on the car so it will clear, but is it worth it to put the lower airbox on the car? Am i going to see any difference besides that it looks badass? The only problem is that i have a fernco bellow and a MTI LID, and the lid wont seal with the fernco bellow for some reason. If i bought a SLP smooth bellow does anyone know if it would fit any better? Right now i have the stock bellow from the maf to the throttle body with the ws6 lower airbox and it fits alright but i don't like the way that looks, and i think i am loosing a few hp using the stock accordian bellow.

Input would be appreciated

i would not sweat the ws6 lower air box if you got a lid . though the accordian bellow needs to go . hell go to home depot and get you a fernco and cut it to fit .

I have solid data from multiple runs at the drag strip one day in which I tried both lower boxes. The WS6 box had me sixty footing 1.52~1.53 while my stock lower box was giving me 1.55~1.56. Both using the SSRA kit. However, the stock box was giving me ET's on those same runs in the 11.44~11.47 range while the WS6 box was only giving me 11.55~11.57 and I was trapping 1.5 mph lower. I switched boxes three different sets of runs just to make sure.

All I can think of is perhaps the smaller area of the stock box equals greater velocity when used with the SSRA. But initially, before the ram air effect kicks in, the WS6 box flows better. Just a theory.

While I love quick 60 foot times, I care more about ET. For me it was not worth it and I sold it and kept my stock lower box.

i switched from a lid to a volant on my ta a while back to get more of a benefit from the ram air effect of the nostrils on the car . though when standing still it is hard to benefit as much as say moving . especially going 60+ mph you can tell a difference .

listen to pewter as he has a point on the 60 foot times as they usually mean a better overall quarter mile time . only thing is standing still off the line air is not exactly coming at you as much as when actually moving .

if you are just wanting to get more air in the lower part , i have seen washers being placed underneath the lower box on birds to try and gulp in more air . also folks cut out the part where the latch is . check out patrick gs cutout on his ride . you can do this even on a non ram air hood and would see a gain .

I have a Suncoast Creations hood and ram air air box. If anything is ram air, it is. Seals directly to the hood, with a huge filter. It has to pressurize pretty well, I notice a fairly big difference at speed...seems more responsive or something.
