PTV clearance with 5.3 heads??

Default PTV clearance with 5.3 heads??

I currently have stock ls1 heads on the car and I am about to swap them out for a set of 5.3 heads. Assuming the 5.3's have not been milled, should I have any PTV clearance issues?

You might wanna watch out with that cam. If you had a stock cam you would be fine. Heck I'm even fine with my 224/.581 114 & my 5.3 heads are milled .018 with stock replacement FelPro gaskets.

The stock heads on it now are fine. Work fine. I am just wondering if the 5.3 heads will be any different.

5.3 heads only have a 1.89 intake valve, as opposed to the stock 2.00 on the LS1. If you put 2.00 stock valves in a 5.3 head you will have .030" less P to V than stock. If you put 2.02 Ferrea valves in it you will have almost .050" less P to V than stock. You better leave it alone.

Yeah I would check the specs, the T-rex is a huge cam. Call thunder racing and ask them about your setup? And you should definently have dual coils.

That is the kind of information I was looking for. Thanks alot. Looks like it won't be worth it to go that route. I guess I will just go with a set of LS6 heads. Thanks again.
