I have a 1999 T/A and I have 2 3/4 pipe exhaust from Y-pipe to muffler and I was wanting to know if 3" would make a difference? Wondering because the SLP packaged cars have 3".
Then I was wanting to know if I left the pipe size alone, but put a muffler shop made Y-pipe on thats not smashed like stock...would that make a difference in performance? Then would a 3" Y-pipe and 3" Exhaust make a difference just from something a muffler shop can do?

all catbacks on the market are at least 3".....some bigger.....so YES there is a benefit to going bigger.
catback gains range from 10-15hp
changing the ypipe really doesn't give you much performance, unless you're removing the cats at the same time. and even then it's minimal.
if you want to gain power....get some headers and the associated ypipe, along with the catback. should all add up to about 30hp and a badass sound.
