manual fan switch/FTRA users inside please hey guys, heres the situation: i have a b&m 28000gvw trans. cooler, mounted in front of the radiator. i want to run the FTRA system and i know i need to remount the trans. cooler vertically i think. im a little worried about engine temps, so i read up on manual fan switch controls. there are two in specific im looking at(Casper electronics and SLP). i really like to keep my car SLP but i dunno if that fan switch is just on/off or high/norm/low like the casper one. will my car keep cool if i use the FTRA and run the fans on high?
To my understanding the FTRA has a block off plate. and can have a portion of it removed(weather purposes) and re-installed when needed right?
will the fan switch help with the cooling for the FTRA? thanks guys

Yes a fan switch will help or you can just reprogram the fans toe come on sooner with custom programming. The stock programming turns the fans on a little too late which allows the car to run warmer than it will if the fans come on sooner.
couple of more questions:
1.) does the FTRA system have a removable piece and block off plate? the removable piece to temp. disable the system? and the block off plate for rain purposes? right?
2.) are both the SLP and Casper Electronics "plug and play"?

Not sure what you mean by removeable piece, does have a block off plate. I've driven my car in downpours with FTRA for years and never had an issue in the rain w/o using it. Don't know about the casper, but the SLP switch is plug and play.

Verdad Gallardo okay..i think the block off plate is used to disable it. i got that confused...is the SLP or Casper switch worth it? im in south tx and it gets over 100 plus degrees here in the summer. and when it rains down here it gets pretty bad. so the block off plate will work w/o me having to worry about hydrolocking. does the fan switch draw alot outta the battery on high?

The lower portion of the kit can be removed should you ever need extra coolin (towing for example) but most people never remove it.
Both the SLP and Caspers kits are plug in play fan relays. You can also do the same thing with a Hypertech, Diablosport programmer or with a custom tune.

i have the ftra and the slp switch its a low or high type switch or if its in the niddle position it lets the pcm control the fans. i had my car tuned about a month ago and i had the switch before the tune but the fans where also reprogrammed to come on sooner.engine temps will go up a little after a quarter mile run then right when im done with the pass i put my fans on high. the ftra will make you car run a hair hotter but not by much. it realy helps at the track. and even with the car running it will draw a bit of power. i dont think you need to have them on all the time just get it tuned to have them come on earlyer.
i have the slp fan switch which is real nice. but now with the lower stat and fans coming on sooner i never need it. so if engine temps are the concern a stat and reprogram of the fans is best. imo
