Well what an interesting situation then, I don't even know what a "tap" is but I most certainly went against a lot of resistance for the back two bolts.

Hey guys. I think I'm going to go to the dealer tomorrow and buy new stock gaskets, remove the bolts, and re do it by making sure the very front and very back bolts go in alright. I'm hoping this will fix the issue? maybe?

I wouldnt touch it untill you have to. As long as theyre not leaking dont worry about them. If you take them off and the bolt holes are really messed up, you might not be able to get them in. Personally I would wait untill you need to take them off, putting on new head would be an ideal opertunity, so you dont have to worry about not being able to get them back on.

Btw a tap is almost like a screw that carves threads into a hole. If your threads were messed up you would screw the tap in almost like a bolt to redo the threads in the head.

I had the same problem with my QTP's on the passengers side, no matter which end I started from I could only get 5 of the bolts to start clean, the sixth one wouldn't thread in without trying to cross-thread. Turns out that even though QTP drilled the bolt holes in the header 1/16" oversized for clearance-the header hole spread was off just enough that the last bolt hole had no clearance and wouldn't align straight. I had to remove the header from the car and use a carbide dremel burr to take out about ten to fifteen thousands (0.010" to 0.015") from the outside internal diameter/edge of the first and last hole. In other words I had to slightly egg shape the hole to make the hole spread wider.
This cured the problem and I then had no trouble to get all the bolts to start and screw in by hand.

Problem is, if you've alredy cross threaded it badly you run the risk of the tap "following" the cross thread instead of the original tapped configuation. If this happens more than likely you'll end up with a seized or broken tap. Also if the cross thread is really off, then when you re-tap the hole out you will also run the risk of removing too much of the original thread material from the hole as the cross thread can sometimes squish it too far out of proportion.
If you do have to re-tap the hole(s), try to use a plug tap and not a starter tap. It doesn't have as much taper on the end and you will be able to pick up the thread easier. A bottom tap will have even less starting taper than a plug tap, but they can be more difficult to use if your not familar with the tapping "feel" or feedback from the tapping process.

So true. "Feel" is so critical when working in a tap - get it wrong and you're in double the trouble that you were before. That's why, if you've got 'em snugged down and you don't have any leaks, leave them alone.

I was afraid of this happening when I installed mine. I held a gasket up to the header and all the holes lined up. No problem.

just put xs's on my car a couple days ago, they all went in fine, just started them in the middle barely tightening them, then went to the back because I figured they would be the hardest, then put the rest in.

When you guys started threading the bolts do some of them enter at a weird angle, then correct themselves and go in straight? Or are all 6 supposed to start straight and go in fully straight? I ask because I removed all but the 2 middle bolts and the only way the back bolt will go in is ****-eyed.

Ok, with the two middle bolts slightly threaded, all the other bolts start COMPLETELY ****-eyed. Is this normal?

they should all start straight. I put a jackstand under the header, to help hold it up while I got things started. I would take the header back off, wire wheel off the bolts incase the have gotten some aluminum shards in the threads, and screw them all in with the header off to make sure they all go in straight and the threads haven't gotten to messed up yet.
