Default Flowtech Header Review

Headers: Flowtech Coated Headers
Y-Pipe: Flowtech Coated Y Pipe
Catback: SLP Loudmouth 1 w/single tips
Gaskets: Reused stock

They have been on for alittle while but finally got around to this.

The install was straight forward only took 4 hours. The passenger side went in without a hitch only needed to remove spark plugs. Driver side had one small hitch. The thing above the oil filter needed to be removed which was no real problem but made a small mess. The flanges on the headers and y pipe were very handy no leaky band clamps to deal with. The driver side looks like it hangs alittle lower (stock ride height) than my brothers Pacesetters but overall I felt it was a better design than the Pacesetters. Hopefully my coating holds up longer than his (been on less than a year and already rusting). The exhaust does not bang at all. The primaries are equal length also. So far no leaks and sounds pretty good with the LM. It is fairly calm below 3k and no drone on the hw. Alittle raspy from 3k to 3.5k and just sounds mean above 3.5k.

Very nice clearance. I'm at about half a can on my Pacesetters (3" TSP ORY).... But i also have dual cutouts before the merge so that knocks off a bit of clearance.

Are you lowered? I figured you should have more clearance than that.

Out of curiosity... how thick or thin are the flanges on those headers. Most of the stuff I hear about them is that the flanges are very thin on them and it eventually leads to gasket problems. Although I dont believe any of those stories were about the LSX style of headers are more like small block chevys and fords.. Looks good bro

Very nice set up. Where did you get them from. I have a LM and am so worried about doing headers in the spring. Im between the american racing, I now like the ones you have, and QTP's. Is your Y catted??? Didnt look like it. Im so scared not to cat my Y if Im running the LM!!! Thanks for the Help.

The flange thickness looks to be the same as any other brand i can measure it tomorrow if you would like.

The Y pipe is not catted. It is really only raspy around 3k-3.5k but I have a stall and am automatic. It might be more raspy on an M6. It almost sounds cammed.

Meh, didn't have/want to dish out the money for them. Plus they'd only further my clearance issue and i've heard of them braking often... though it sure is convenient to have electrics

Your setup looks good though. You should have some room for a cutout or 2 there.
