Exhaust shop questions?
I am a complete and total gomer when it comes to "how to shop for exhaust."
I know mandrel bending is the preferred bend, but what is the "standard" bend?
Basically - I am getting some new headers and I am not sure my old Y pipe will work, if it doesn't, I'm going to have a new custom Y-pipe made..
However, I'd like to at least sound like I know what I'm talking about when I go to the exhaust shop, so I don't get abused on the price..
My current Y rocks, except that it was not put on to be easily removed, so had to cut it to get it off and am going to either get it fixed or have a new Y all together and I'm just curious what kinda questions you guys would ask an exhaust shop before you let them do your work?
The good news is, some of my wifes family has an exhaust shop, so I may let them do the work, but I still don't want to sound like a smacktard while discussing what I want done..
About your question, the only other kind of bends I know of is "crush" bent. You can def tell the difference between mandrel and crush bends.
Also, you might look at purchasing that Flowmaster collector and taking that along to the exhaust shop.
