Default Air lid sensor

I am replacing the air lid with an MTI clear lid and need to transfer the air lid sensor and am having trouble taking out the old one. How do I remove the sensor without breking it so that I can install it on the new one?????

I remember mine being hard to remove as well. I just kept messing with it though and it finally came out. I think it would get damaged if you pry on it with anything...

When I took mine out of the stock lid, I took 2 flat screwdrivers, pried them in between the sensor and the rubber grommet, and gently pulled it out. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah... before I did this, I tried to pull it out with some craftsman robogrip pliers, but that only scratched up the little "hook" part of the sensor.

If you have the patience/perserverance you could try to take it out or just buy another one-pretty cheap at the dealer-think it was about 15?

I grabbed the lip of the sensor with some pliers and pulled like no other. Has to twist it a little bit also. I broke the part where wires plug in(the lip), but glued it back together. Hopefully it will still work, waiting for my lid to arrive

This is why I ordered the dir-flow lid with the sensor already in it. so changing back and forth for warrenty would be much easier.

Wrap the sensor with a cloth. Then use some pliers to gently grip it and pull it off.

A new one costs like $10 at the dealership. But you'll still need the rubber gromet. Just twist it back and forth. It will not brake that easy.

Just pull and twist. I can remove mine in about 5 secs. Had to when taking car to dealer for service.

A new grommet is $2.64. After 3 lids and 4 years, mine finally died.

Heat it up a little with hair drier and use pliers should come out real easy.
