Bad water pump, or just gasket? Or something else?
Bad water pump, or just gasket? Or something else? I noticed a little orange fluid on my garage floor today. It looks like Dexcool. After looking under the car I noticed a little of it on the sway bar and resting on the area behind my ASP pulley.
Is this coming from the water pump weep hole? Or is my gasket just shot? It seems to only leak when it's hot, and I hear no water pump noise. Which makes me think it's just the gasket?
Not sure if the gasket was replaced after the last cam swap either. I checked all the hoses and the radiator and noticed no leaks up there. The only fluid I see is where I mentioned. Any help would be great before I go ahead and change the gasket and/or water pump out.

I just had to change the water pump on my 02 SS and had the same symptoms that you are describing. For me it was the water pump and I'm sure it's the same for you probably the weep hole letting you know that it's on it's way out. I changed mine in the drive way by myself in about 2 hrs. It's not a hard thing to do.

I think I just joined the bad water pump club today too...
I wouldn't be so pissed if I hadn't just had it off a month ago for the cam swap, and since it wasn't leaking then, I didn't replace it...In retrospect, I should have replaced it as a preventive maintainence thing.
