Default BBK or Typhoon intake?

I had a nitrous backfire that cracked my ls6 intake. I know most people might say to just go with another LS6 intake or fast, but I was thinking either the BBk or Typhoon in case another backfire ever happens again. I like how the Typhoon comes with fuel rails already, which I was gonna be needing to upgrade over the stock ones soon anyway. Does anybody have any experience with either one?

A lot of people had problems with the Typhoon leaking when they were first released. Apparently the company addressed these problems. I have one on my car and didn't have any problems with leaks. I can't tell you how good it runs because we aren't through with the tuning yet. As far as the BBK, I can't tell you a thing about them.

mmmhmm I could understand why you would go with a metal intake but was your backfire a freak thing!? I mean run the kit safer and stay up on the matience and there shouldnt be a reason why you cant run a plastic intake.

As of the 2, would have to check dyno #'s in order to make the right decision.

i would just go with a fast intake... metal inatke(typhoon)=will heat soak, wich means power thats lost when your engine warms up, it may have a tendency to warp wich means it can lose a seal

umm...I'm not sure. I've never had a backfire before and I don't really know what exactly caused it, but I'm thinking the metal intake will be safer and I'm sure the nitrous will make up for the heat soak. Plus I like that they're at least 85mm. I did throw another ls6 intake on there in the meantime just so I could drive the car around, but I definately plan on replacing it soon. I'll just do a little more searching before I make my decision.

The heat is not a issue when you hit the nitrous, all the motor see's is a massive cool down in tempatures and the added safty of a metal intake over a plastic intake is well worth it in my opinion. As for the question at hand I would say BBK hands down for the fitment. I have never personally done this too my car but have done to other cars at the shop I work at. Typhoon has a fitment problem and like the other guy said the fuel rails are a bitch.

If you go with either it should be the bbk. professional products are junk, I know alot of people that used their ford products and had nothing but issues...if it were my car I would buy a fast 90, you can get reliefs in the manifold so by any chance a backfire happens again you'll save the manifold...just my 2cents

i decided to go with a Vic jr. with an intake elbow for the exact same reason. i think i would throw up if i spent a 1000 dollars on a FAST with "burst discs" just to see it break up in a nitrous backfire. if you cant do the vic setup then i would say bbk

What intake gasket seals are you using, I'm using the regular ls1 seals and yours look like they might seal alot better.

that's what I used... just the stocker off of my old ls1 intake manifold... they work fine... but i hear the fel-pro's are good replacements if needed...

I know BBK made the grooves for the seals a little shallow on purpose so that the stock gaskets would stick out a little further to give it a better seal...
