bad 02 sensors???
bad 02 sensors??? what are some symptoms of bad o2 sensors? also if they arent working correctly can you clean them? i read a post where someone said u can just clean them because they dont actually break they just get covered, but i wanted to make sure that is actually true.
You get Bad gas mileage, rough idle etc, SES light on and codes. You can try to clean them, take them out and then heat them with a propane torch to burn off the black stuff. If that doesnt work and the problems continue then replace them.
just buy new ones...even if you clean them they can still be fouled by water or bad gas, and those substances and their damage (heavy metals, oxidization) wont burn off. besides...they're not that expensive anyway
If your O2's are going bad your car should run fairly well when cold but may start acting funny once warm. When cold it runs in open loop and ignores the O2s for about 5 mins. If your cars performance goes downhill after 5 mins from a cold start its a pretty good indication they are bad.
