Default Header question?

I have seen lots about shorty headers and longtube headers, but I have a lowered 2000 ss. I haven't seen much about midlength headers. Who makes a good midlength header? I like to go long tube but don't feel like hitting on all over the place and shorties....why bother really. Any help would be great. Thanks

People don't say much about midlengths because, just like shorties, they're not really worth it. All you need to do is get a set of longtubes that tuck up very well. Kooks are well known for tucking up very well and the y-pipe is known for tucking up better than stock. The only mids you ever hear about are Mac's, and I'm willing to bet the Kooks will tuck up even higher.

I have QTP's, and I believe they're a longer header than the Kooks, so they MAY hang a tad lower, but I still have oodles of ground clearance.

The lowest part of my setup is the cutout, and after that, the cats. The collectors are way up there.

Again, it's really pointless to go with midlengths, even on a lowered vehicle. It's the y-pipe that seemingly always causes ground clearance issues, anyway, so it really doesn't matter what header you go with with the sole exception of SLP's

yeah I had a pair of pacesetter "mid-lengths" but they were really just shorties. but the Y-pipe had to be custom fit up to the headers, and mine hung really low and scraped. I bought AR headers and their y-pipe and they fit really snug with no ground clearance issues whatsoever, the crossmember sits lower then the headers and y, but they don't bounce off the bottom of the car either. The only problem with a nice set of LT's is they tend to hit the K-member but this can be fixed by either grinding a small notch in the member or replacing with aftermarket.

I just got the AR headers & Y-pipe and have plenty of room under the car.
