Default Air Lid

My dad has a used car rebuilding/selling business, and he brought in a 02 trans am with an air lid on it. The lid has the rough plastic texture and says LS1 Motorsports in fancy printing on it. The tube goes all the way back to the MAF. Anyone know anything about these lids? Are they good? Better than a SLP Lid? Also, It has a small clamp-on K&N-type filter clamped to a rubber hose in the right front part of the engine bay, near the brake components, the tube runs down the front of the car, and I can reach through the bumper and grab it, but I can't follow where it leads from there. Any Ideas as to what it is? Thanks!

Yes they are good air lids, about the same as the SLP. the tube you are talking about should run to your AIR pump that is underneath the left cowling on the left side of the car, cowling has around 8-9 7mm bolts and when you pull it off you can access the AIR pump. Hope this helps

Why did the previous owner put the Small Clamp-on filter and hose on? Does it boost performance or something?

The hose runs to the air filter lid stock, the after market lid probably does not have provision for the air pump hose.Does not add performance.

There was an article in Gm high tech performance. Basically the lid does make a huge difference from the stock / baffle set up. There is no real difference in the lids from SLP to G2, Texas speed and so on. Stick with what you got.
