wiring a gen III i'm looking at buying a 2001 5.3. i know i'm going to adapt the mounts and flexplate. its going to be put it in a 87 truck. i was wondering if anybody knows how to wire this in. i read an artical saying to buy a after market harness but they cost as much as an engine.

You can search for used harnesses which are kind of common on the sale boards and pretty fair prices. but in one of the magazines I have in the parts bin a company has brand new ones for around 200 or 250? I'll have to find it today I left it at work, but it's either GMHTP, or Car Craft. Otherwise you can look around junkyards but they usually keep the harness with the engine.
