Questions about running a one wire alt. setup.
Questions about running a one wire alt. setup. I dropped a 99 LS1 into an RX-7 and I finally got the car running but the alt. isn't charging. The exciter wire is hooked up. I took the alt. out to have it tested tomorrow but if it's good then I want to avoid trouble shooting the wire and run a one wire. Has anyone else done this? What alt did ya get? Did it change your belt size? Any info is welcome and needed.
My harness was missing the alt. connector so I had to order one with 4 wires coming out of it. Which pin is used for the exciter wire? Are any others used? I don't have a stock LS1 to reference and see how it goes. That may be part of the issue.

Ok, still need help. Made sure I had the right wire connected and ohmed it out so i know it's good. Put a new alternator in it and still running off the battery. Only thing I can think of is ECU not telling it to charge. Is there a work around to get the alt to charge?
