Default Kooks headers in, PICS!!!

I got my kooks long tube headers in for my 2000 Trans Am. They have(EDIT) 1 3/4 inch to 1 7/8 inch stepped primaries with a 3 inch slip on collector, made out of stainless steel. My favorite pic is of the gasket on the header, the gasket is a perfect match for the header. The total was $1023.66 to my door and was only took 3 weeks, not bad in my opinion. Enjoy the eye candy.

EDIT: Got the sizes wrong, they are 1 ¾ inch to 1 7/8 inch stepped primaries.

WOW, I gotta do that!! Very slick, almost looks coated in the second pick. How much did that run you?

They aren't installed yet, just got them in yesterday, but I will post once they are installed with more pics. I’m planning on getting a x-pipe made for it, again I’ll post pics and what not of that when I am done too.
Dan
P.S. Thanks for the compliments!

EDIT: for clarity

I did it myself all by hand. I only had about 3 hours to work on them, as you can see by the after pic, they came out MINT! If I had a couple days, they would look like chrome.

The Nevr-Dull and Blue-Magic polish cost less than 15 bucks. I did each header twice with the Nevr-Dull, then did each header twice with the Blue Magic polish. Just keep using fresh pieces of Nevr-Dull and they'll come out awesome.

Thanks for the tips! Your headers look beautiful. I'll be doing the same to my QTP's.. when they arrive in 4 years.

I installed my Kooks headers with their RT Y pipe. The fit around the K members and steering shaft are perfect. I have a TR224 cam so the engine moves quite a bit. I have never heard any type of banging from the header or Y pipe.

I should have mine in about 2 weeks. I'm going to try the same thing but I'll sand with 2000 grit sandpaper before.

I guess you put them in from the bottom? What had to be done? Did you jack the motor and if so, on which side? Didi you pull the starter?
Thanks, Steve

I actually bought sandpaper, but Nick at Kooks said NOT to use it. I guess if you try in an inconspicuous spot first...

#2000 grit will already have a polishing effect before you use anything else. It will give a better end result and takes off virtually no metal!

Those look sweet! My only questions are about underhood heat and upkeep.
Won't it get really hot under the hood and around the plug wires?
How do you plan on keeping them blingalicious?

Kooks said the stainless will run cooler than the mild steel. I'll probably buy some shields for the wires just in case.

As far as the up keep, I'm tossing the air and egr systems and plan on doing the coil relo kit. With these things gone, I'll have plenty of room to hit them with the Nevr-Dull every so often.

I got the same stepped headers as you did. The install was easy for me, but I did have to dissconnect the motormount from the block and jack the drivers side up to get it in. The passenger side slides right in, no problems at all. Their ORP is great quality, even crush the drivers side pipe a bit for more clearance. I did have to modify the I-pipe from the cat back though because it didn't line up with the y-pipe, don't know if it had anything to do with the fact I had them make it a 3.5" Y or not though. My ORP does come real close to the drivers side floor board as well, just like my FLP's and TTS's did. I think if you polish them, it'll look good till you start the car and they get hot, then they discolor, don't know if you can polish that out or not. I have some Pics of the headers and ORP I could post up later if anyone is interested...
