Default which headers to get?!

i have a stock 2001 camaro ss m6 and i am looking at getting some long tube headers. i want something thats gonna give it nice deep tone but i dont want it to be obnoxios. whats the best set of headers to get? i was looking at the slp LT but whats the best bang for the buck? whats the most horsepower i can expect to gain from headers? also do i have to get a new y-pipe to match the headers? how much would u expect to pay for something like this? any help that anyone could give me is much appreciated!

Your not gonna hear a difference in sound between brand y or brand x headers.

Best bang for the buck would be Pacesetters. TSP has them with catted or ory pipes for a fair price most of the time.

I only gained 15rwhp from my headers. To get the best results, you should get a dyno tune after you get to a point where your done modding for a while. I picked up alot with a tune.

Your gonna have to have a new y pipe when you get headers, or, you could go with true-duals instead, which is the route I would recommend.

consider the XS stainless steel too, similar design to pacesetter at a similar cost, but IMO much better deal because of the material used, same goes for the construction of the y-pipe

i did pacesetters because there cheap, and just as good in performance as the expensive ones.

Not true, different bends = different sounds. My Kooks sound totally different then my buddies SLP's for example w/ the same exhaust.

Kooks/ARH/QTP are the loudest IMO.

Also don't listen if anyone tells you the HP difference is none brand to brand. I have SEEN Kooks and ARH headers make 5-10 MORE RWHP on the same car over Pacesetters....

When you break it down it really comes down to "you get what you pay for", and what your plan are for this car. If its a daily driver you should probably lean towards stainless. If you plan on doing engine mods later and want to squeez as much as you can, you probably want to go towards the higher end headers, like kooks, ARH, QTP. On the other hand you can get good gains from Pacesetters. The also fit pretty good, they just may not last as long as the more expensive ones. You can expect to pay between $800.00 and $1500.00 on a good set of stainless headers and y-pipe. And pay between $350.00 and $600.00 on your less expensive headers and y-pipes.

IMO

I got my coated Pacesetters with a TSP Off road Y from TSP for 500 last year...couldn't be happier. The headers still look new and they woke the car up like you wouldn't believe. If you're looking to stay on a budget, I would definitely lean towards the Pacesetters over the XS's.

I can personally attest to the excellent quality of the ARH long tubes. Install is easy, fit is perfect, couldn't be happier with them. Can't beat stainless. They are loud, but I think that is more a function of my LMII, cam, etc.

I had a very easy install with my supermaxx system. the best header system i've ever put on a car! most ppl have issues with their starter and steering shaft.

We sell a lot of Kooks and people are happy with them. Again, it comes down to getting what you paid for.
