Header Install. Help me out. Hey. I'm hopin to get me pacesetter LT's pretty soon. My dad had the idea to save some money on labor at the muffler shop by installing the headers at home, instead of having them do it. how long should it take me to remove all the stock stuff? (manifolds, cats, and stock y pipe) and then install the new LT's? can it be done in a day rollin around on the garage floor? i've heard something about havin to raise up the motor a little?? any info would be great!

You can do it in a day if you have a little help. If not it will be a long day. I have pacesetters but I set mine in place with the heads removed. You shouldn't have to raise the motor though if you have the car high enough off the ground. Lift it at both ends with some good jack stands and get the front up as high as you can get it. If you can get the headers almost vertical under the car they will go in.
You may have to raise your motor a little bit. I had to with mine. It's a crap shoot for the most part. Depends how soggy your stock mounts are. I raised my drivers side up a little, didn't switch to poly motor mounts like I should have 
, then slipped my header in. But really, even with the stock mounts I have no Y-pipe banging whatsoever. Crap shoot there as well. But it can be done in a day with two sets of hands no problem. Roughly 6 hours your first time through would be a good guess. Good luck.

I have done Pacesetter LTs on a 99 WS6 and a 01 SS and in both cases they slid right in..no lifting motors, no undoing steering. Maybe I am justs uper lucky. I did it myself ... much better with help. But you can definately do it!

If its you and your pops, you should be able to do it in a day... Like mentioned before, key is too get it pretty high off the ground and lifting the block a little is hit or miss. I had to do it on mine, I also had to notch out some of the K-member to keep from banging and getting false knock.
Removing the old, rusted *** crap is what took me the longest. And guess what, that's the part where my dad decided he would "supervise," lol.

Removal isn't hard. My bolts to held my y pipe to my manifolds weren't going to come out so i had to bust out the sawzall. Passenger side header should be easy but from my experience the driver side needs to be pushed up vertical and then rotated in. hard to explain. have someone looking at it from the front of the car cause you won't be able to see where it's snagging while your putting it in.
FYI, for your own sake. DO SOME POLY MOTOR MOUNTS WHILE THE EXHAUST IS OFF!!! It will keep your exhaust from banging and save you headaches later. I think a lot of people have been down this road and will tell you the same thing. I really wish I did it when I initially did my headers

We installed mine on a lift--took 7 hours...[we are slow and lazy]..I, would never do it lying on the floor---you guys are much,much younger though.....
