Default Open headers

I was thinking of putting on my headers this weekend but my x pipe wont come in till next week. Just wondering If Id burn anything out with open headers. Its a daily driver so I need to take it to work

I know a couple of ppl that ran open headers like that for months. ran fine. it would be just like running dual cutouts prettmuch just a little more extreme.

No its not safe unless you have atleast 12 inches of pipe of each header in order to make some kind ok back preassure. I bolted up my mufflers to the headers and ran it like that till I got my X pipe welded together. So if you have the mufflers then bolt them on or atleast some straight pipe.

I think for that short of a time period you should be fine, I had to drive mine a couple days with open headers until I could do the rest of the exhaust it was fine.

i am running open hooker longtubes until i get the cash for duals. its runs fine. i bolted two 20" pipes to the end of the headers to get some noise out of the interior. the only thing it will hurt is your neighbors ears when you leave for work in the morning. ha ha. i started a thread on this before i put mine on. i got a lot of feedback from members. check it out

yeah, i don't know if these other guys can get away with open headers because of their location, but i knew i wasn't going to make it more than a few blocks before getting stopped by a friendly neighborhood peace officer.

start it up and hear what i mean. clamping a muffler on is a sane idea in california.

Just go to napa and buy to stainless steel band clamps so you dont have to weld anything on your headers. You can reuse them on your x pipe.
