Default 4 muffler true duals?

This is a picture of the exhaust that I built.

It's all 3" and the bends are mandrel, Stainless Works mufflers.

It's a little louder that I would like. My plan is to weld in a pair of Spiral Flow mufflers that I'm buying from Shift123

They kind of look like cats, and I want to put them here

Have any of you ever had or heard of someone using more than the standard two mufflers?

What do you think the outcome of this will be?

Thanks for the time and replies.

Some of the older Classic cars did have four.. some had muffler and a resonator on each pipe.

As far a s the outcome or performance.. it depends on what muffler and home much over all restriction it all adds up to.

With 3" duals, I dont see a problem with using an extra set of bullet mufflers to tone things down. I think you will be just fine, honestly

From what I have researched over time, as long as the mufflers you use are straight through design, you will have no measurable loss of power when stacking them.

Only thing I'd be worried about is clearance.

well to be honest you used the shortest chamber stainless works offers... you could have used a bit longer... a few inches of chamber makes a reasonable difference in sound.

you shouldn't have much problems other than like was mentioned with the clearance though.

OP, you could always add in another chambered muffler instead? Take the short SW mufflers and add them in where you'd like to put the spintechs and get some longer 3" power stick mufflers(chambered, very similar to the Sweet thunders and SW's mufflers but like the SW's they have a true 3" ID) and put them in the location of your current mufflers.

The Stainless Works mufflers are 21" long each. Is that really the smallest they make? Galen gave me these.

The Spiral Flow mufflers are 13" long.

Another option I haven't really considered is running the duals out the back and putting the Spiral Flows behind the Stainless Works instead of in front of. I'd probably go under the axle because I have to jack the rear up by the pumpkin anyway because of the 11" wide wheels.
Thanks for the replies.

Definitely worth a shot, if anything I think it will deepen the sound a bit and shouldn't restrict it at all as bullets are straight thru. Post up some clips when done.

I personally extend your current stuff out the back. Those 3" spiral flows have a 4" o.d. and I'd think they would be hell to fit up front w/out losing major ground clearance. Extending them out the back would reduce in-cabin noise significantly but still sound bad *** outside the car. Just my $.02

Very curious what it will sound like w/ 2 different styles of mufflers.
Would definitely like to hear.

i dont think the ground clearance would be much of an issue, especially considering most of us realize our cars are low and we drive accordingly.

Passenger side ground clearance won't be an issue. I've got a ton of room. Driver's side might be interesting.

People put catted Y pipes on all the time. Shouldn't be too big of a clearance problem.

Those mufflers are also 1" bigger than most cats too though.

I never had a problem with interior noise with my XR-1's dumped but when I took them out the back, I literally felt like I was driving a stock car until I punched the go pedal and went WOT. So I vote the easiest route, out the back with the exhaust. Put the spintechs just before the tips if you're still concerned with the tone

I'm downloading the clip right now.

I think I'm going to cut off the dumps behind the SW mufflers and weld on flanges. I'm going to weld another flange onto the pipe before it goes through the Spiral Flow mufflers and out the back. I'll weld a 3rd set of flanges onto the dumps, so that I can swap them back on.

Here's mine.
Basically the TSP TD kit, with Dynomax bullets before axle. Also high flow cat converters aswell.
Over axle into two more 18" glasspacks, can't remember the vendor.

You can click here for more pix if you care.

Its really quiet. Almost stock quiet. But when you get on it I guess it sounds pretty good.
I've never heard it from outside the car but people have said it sounds good so I believe em.
