Default broken bolt in head

got a header bolt broke in the head and it is actually countersunk a tad.
the shop that broke it off also broke an ez-out in the bolt I know its fucked up but has anyone had any luck having/removing something like this?
I have replaced the heads but wondering if I can salvage these for the old shortblock or if just need to take them to the scrapyard.
thanks

I did this in a Ford Lightning I had many years ago and a good machine shop can fix this for you.

use a good oil penetrate and then use a good drill bit and easy out. Snap on makes a wonderfull set of easy outs that you can use a socket on. Happens on our Aircraft all the time.

This happened to me while I was working on a friends car. Instead of pulling the head and extracting it I ended up dropping the motor and K member about 18". Drilled it out extracted it, and retapped. Had the whole car back together by midnight.

I am not terribly worried about it as they made me a killer deal on some GMPP heads and ls6 intake and did the header install all for 1k.
They are good folks and I knew that was a possibility going in and thats why I took it to them.

If there is an ez-out broken off in the hole, you won't be able to drill it out. The ez-out is a lot harder than the drill bit. You can let the shop try to get the old bolt out, but plan on the head getting destroyed.

true, but you MIGHT be able to drill it out with a cobalt drill. but it wont be fun.
can you get vise grips on the ez out or the bolt?

I've had easyouts brake befor and buy some miracle I got it out but I couldent tell you how it happend because I tryed everything to get it out and depending on how its broke will make a huge diffrence like if any is sticking out still.
but it basicly sounds like they cross threded it so they should take responsibility and fix it thats all thier is too it, I'd be like sorry guys I know you were giving me a deal but you broke you have to fix it. And make shure they show you how they fixed it dont let them get away with some JB weld fix.

A machine shop should be able to get it out for you. A friend of mine did the same thing, a machine shop was able to drill it out, retap it and helacoil it and he never had a problem.
