I Like my ARH (American Racing Headers) They are stainless and have high velocity merge collectors. The y pipe is very nice because it uses a 2-1 collector. you can also choose to have a 3" outlet on the end if the y pipe. All you do is have your exhaust expanded from 2 3/4 -3" where it slides on. Then the whole system is 3"

Call Nick at ARH he will hook you up.

We keep Pacesetter and Kooks in stock, but can also get you the American Racing, Hooker, MAC, and SLP headers quickly. Alot of the choice will depend on your budget, as well as how much air you're planning on moving in and out of your engine (cubes, H/C, power adder, etc?). Shoot me a PM or call us and we can talk about your needs and help you pick a set of headers that will treat you right!

I've had very good experience with Hooker long-tubes on my LS1. They perform well, give pretty good ground clearance, install is typically pretty easy (as easy as a LS1 header install can be) and they are reasonably priced (roughly $400 - $450 for ceramic coated LT's). Well worth every penny!

If you have some jack stands and a garage to do the work you should be able to do the install yourself or with the help of a friend.

I have American Racing 1 3/4 headers and they make good power, sound great, and were easy to install with minimum ground clearance.

Shops in my area wanted to charge ~$400 to install them so I did them myself.

We recommend and sell a lot of Jet Hot and Kooks. I recommend Jet Hot over pacesetter because even though they cost a little more, they come with a better warrantied coating..and you have the catted Y-pipe option.

if you run a search for "headers" or "brand X" you will likely find a lot of information instead of having to wait for replies. Generally people like pacesetters for a cost-efficient header. If you search "XS headers" they are a new brand of stainless headers for a low cost, but they have questionable reliability. most that have them love them, a few people have had issues.

if you go to the sponsor sales and contact livernois, they are running some good deals right now on Kooks products.

listing a price range would probably help you get some more accurate replies.

No long tubes will connect to your factory cats.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/generation-iii-external-engine/844749-favorite-headers.html
that thread is about 8 threads below yours. a poll with roughly 100 results.
as far as i know, if you change headers you need to change the Y-pipe to fit the stock exhaust or any kind of catback exhaust. another option would be to run duals, which doesnt require a Y-pipe.
