I bought some of the crc maf cleaner mine was black when I bought the car.

Take a screwdriver and spray the handle with brake kleen and watch the plastic dissolve.

Then if you still don't believe it, spray some on an underhood painted surface and check it out.

The MAF has a plastic body, and its electronics have a clear coating which is similar to paint.
