Default Metco breather...good or bad

I have a metco breather that I was going to put on but I just seen a couple posts saying they're no good. Anyone running one? I've also heard you need to cap off the fitting going from the valve cover to the throttle body to use the breather.

Ive had mine on for over a year, my 02 SS has no oil consumption at all!! You are talking about the one that replaces the oil cap right? I have seen quite a few of them.Check with Cammin BeaSST, I believe he has one on his solid roller motor.

Yup, I got one. When I epoxied my TB, I covered the hole the the valve cover. My engine doesnt drink a DROP of oil in 3000 miles. Maybe its goodluck, maybe its engine building talant Either way, it looks cool

I've been running one on my stroker for about 400 miles now.(Car has 5500 miles on stroker motor) I no longer have a sooty black powder buildup on my tailpipes and no more oil smell when I get hard on the pedal. Before the breather I was using about 1/2 a quart every 800 to 1000 miles of hard driving with a modified Greddy catch can and a LS6 PCV. In the last 400 miles, I have used about 4 oz. which would equate to 1 quart every 3200 miles. I'm only running 1 breather on the pass. side with an equalizer tube running between the 2 valve covers. Everything else is capped off.

So you do away with the whole PCV system when the breather is used?

I ran the breather for a year on my TA with the PCV system still intact. I took it off this year to see the difference.

I used less oil with the breather on, even with the PCV intact.

I don't see any reason why the PCV would need to be capped off to use the breather. Once the breather is on, the PCV system should be inopperable anyway....
