its like an upside down slp lid i guess you could say

it seals to the hood i think

I think you're talking about K&N's intake for the LS1. It's a thin oval filter, there's no plastic lid just the filter.

Suncoast makes the one your thinking. Some of the hoods that you get require that set up where the filter is incased with the hood insted of a box lid, nice set up.
