exhaust problem

exhaust problem here be the deal. i have an slp loudmouth 2 exhaust. before i put it on the car was lowered an inch with the suspension listed below. well the over the axle part touches the axle causing it to radle. well not the axle but the part connected to the wheel right near the axle. im not good with parts here.. anyway if i replaced my 16 inch wheels with 17's would that fix the problem???
sounds like you need to have the exhaust adjusted.
and to answer your question NO
when you change rim size, you have to alter the tire size to accomodate it. basically you run a different tire, but it has the same overall diameter.
16, 17, 18, 19" rims dont affect the tire diameter...its the TIRE that affects the diameter.
16" rim with 245/50/16 tires are 25.7" in diameter
17" rim with 245/45/17 tires are 25.7" in diameter
17" rim with 245/40/17 tires are 25.7"
18" rim with 245/40/18 tires are 25.7"

the tire/wheel size will not affect the distance between the axle and the body. only the spring can effect that.
you can try raising the exhaust up by modding the hanger, or depending on how big of an issue, you can use a body hammer and dolly to make a slight divet in the exhaust.

crazy thing is. it only rattles for about ten seconds when its started cold. then it never rattles.. idk and usually only when im backin up also. beats me. i may take a hammer to it.. its gay the pipe gets the largest when it goes over the axle which is the tightest place for it to go through. beats me..
I hope your doing the wheel swap for look and not to solve the clearance issue. I've heard of people putting something in between an exhaust pipe and whatever it's rattling against, but can't remember what it is.

i've already put header wrap it helps. i mean it only rattles for like 10-15 seconds...Stuff is weldin in place so its hard to adjust the exhaust.. I bought the wheels just for looks. they're trans am wheels off a 2001. so
