Decision on GMMG?
I had the GMMG on my last LS1 and quickly re-installed it on my new LS1 without hesitation. Those optional oval tips look great(and different) IMO.To me personally, I haven't heard a better sounding cat-back yet. I got to hear an '01 M6 SS with this exhaust and some FLP LT headers(using highflow cats) back in the spring, and I still cannot get over how great(truly muscular) that car sounded at WOT.
The sound quality absolutely couldn't get any better IMHO. Whether it is worth it or not is totally up to you...
Good luck,
Mike
i dont know about that,
isnt the GMMG like $700-$800?
from what ive seen,
its just a y-pipe that splits into two small chambered mufflers.
come on, how much would that cost to do it yourself?
then add whatever dummy tips you like
if you really care about crap like that.

-I agree with this statement totally...the sound is unrivaled! I love mine!
wtf are you talking about? the sound may be nice,
but it is not a GMMG exclusive breakthrough in exhaust technology, its an effn y-pipe with two small chambered mufflers! granted, it sounds great, but how much do you think it costs to make?
ill eventually make my own and get back to you guys.

-For some reason, just throwing sections of chambered pipe into the exhaust still can't re-create the sound of a GMMG. It has a unique sound that I doubt you'll be able to reproduce.
-You can probably make it sound the same, but I gurantee you won't make it perform the same. The guys over at GMMG didn't just throw some chambered sections together when making up their exhaust.
as far as i know, as long as you do nothing to obstruct flow, you would not decrease your performance when making your own exhaust.
but i do think it is possible that they have created a sound that could be very difficult to replicate, esp if they did make their own chambered pipes, instead of just getting them from somewhere else where i can also get them, or something similar to them. (i.e. sweet thunder or stainlessworks) if the case is that you cannot create something very similar for much less money, only then can i understand and even be willing to order a GMMG.
its just that from what i saw, it was simply a y-pipe w/ two chambers. but who knows. i know with muscial instruments, every detail matters in "the quest for tone". maybe GMMG did find something hard to get?
